According to the Act of 24 March 1920 on the Acquisition of Real Estate by Foreigners, to purchase real estate in Poland, a foreigner needs a permit from the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration. Citizens and entrepreneurs with residence or registered office in the European Economic Area and Switzerland are exempt from the permit requirement. In order to obtain a permit for the acquisition of real estate, a foreigner should submit an appropriate application and attach all documents justifying the granting of the permit. Both the application and the attached documents must be drawn up in Polish.

If there are no contraindications for granting the permit, and the application meets all formal requirements, a decision is issued to grant the foreigner a permit to acquire real estate within 2 months. The permit is valid for two years from the date of its issue and within this period, the indicated real estate must be purchased. The administrative fee for issuing a permit to purchase real estate is 1570 PLN.
